Structure Fire at 105 N. Pecan Street

The Turkey Creek Fire Territory was dispatched for a possible structure fire at 6:14 AM; smoke visible from the roof of the structure; no flames visible; owners have evacuated the structure. Upon arrival, heavy smoke conditions are visible from the attic vents and the eaves of the structure. The occupant is out of the structure with no reported injury. North Webster Fire Department and Turkey Creek Fire Territory off duty personnel are requested for additional manpower. The Benton Township Fire Department is requested for an assist with a tanker. The natural gas utility service is discontinued at the meter and the electric utility service is also discontinued at the meter. A transitional fire attack is initiated. The fire is extinguished at 7:18 AM.Overhaul and salvage is completed. 1-800-BOARD UP is requested for board up of the structure. Damages to the structure and contents due to the fire are estimated at $50,000.00 with an estimated $50,000.00 in property and contents saved.. All crews cleared the scene at 9:28 AM and returned to quarters.
